Topic: Event News
Who: The Promotion Marketing Association
Where: Chicago
When: 8 – 9 December 2003
What happened:
The world's largest promotion marketing industry body, The Promotion Marketing Association, was founded in 1911 in New York and now has over 800 members representing a diverse range of companies operating or involved in the promotion marketing industry. These include brand owners, marketing agencies, contingency insurance suppliers, premium/gift manufacturers and legal advisors.
Towards the end of each year, it holds its annual law conference and this year it happens in Chicago on 8-9 December 2003.
Stephen Groom of Osborne Clarke, editor of marketinglaw.co.uk and chair of the UK chapter of the Promotion Marketing Association, will be speaking on international promotion marketing law at the event, which is entitled 'The Magic of Promotion Marketing' and will be the PMA's 25th annual promotion marketing law conference.
During the two days of the event, other sessions will cover security issues, ensuring the integrity and fairness of a promotion, available insurance policies against over-redemption etc, on-line promotions, privacy and spam, marketing to children, intellectual property issues in marketing and advertising, the rights/licensing aspects of feature film promotional tie-ins and how to avoid marketing promotion disasters.
In his session 'Conducting promotions in a global economy' 'marketinglaw's' Stephen Groom will be sharing the podium with three colleagues from the Global Advertising Lawyers' Alliance. The foursome will be focusing on the practical aspects of organising/project-managing legally compliant international marketing campaigns.
Other sessions will mostly have an American emphasis, but delegates from the UK and other counties cannot fail to pick up useful tips and foretastes of what will inevitably happen on this side of the Atlantic, while the usually in excess of four hundred delegates means the networking opportunities are huge.
Non PMA members booking before 6 October can register for US$1,320. To register, call 0012124201100 or go to www.pmalink.org.
