Tell the editor if we are wrong or a similar deal is on the cards in your country, but in possibly a world first, UK ad agency trade body the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising has done a simulcast deal with third party rights holders such as the BPI (record labels), Equity (actors/voiceovers) and the Musician’s Union (musicians). The deal is that while terms for use from 2008 are discussed, their members will not claim more usage fees for ads when commercial TV progs are simulcast online or on mobile phones in 2007.
